Guided Visit at the K.H. Zambaccian Museum
The National Museum of Art of Romania invites you to a guided visit at the K.H. Zambaccian Museum (21A Zambaccian Museum Street) on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 5:00 PM. The visit will be conducted by Ilinca Damian, focusing on the paintings of the master Nicolae Tonitza.
Famous for his portraits of children with eyes painted "like mulberries," as well as for his bohemian lifestyle and numerous anecdotes that have ensured empathy, interest, and amusement from collectors, Tonitza was considered by the interwar generation of Bucharest as a local Modigliani. The artist's friendship with Zambaccian was marked by disputes and conflicts, yet it lasted until the artist's untimely death in 1940. You will learn about the history of the K.H. Zambaccian Museum, the stories behind the paintings exhibited in the hall dedicated to Nicolae Tonitza, as well as other anecdotes about the collector, the interwar world of Bucharest, and the tumultuous lives of the artists.
Ticket price: 12 lei.
