Location: Museum Theodor Pallady (Strada Spătarului, nr. 22)

The National Museum of Art of Romania presents at the Museum Theodor Pallady (22 Spătarului Street) the temporary exhibition Volume and perspective in the graphic creation of Theodor Pallady. This event is part of a cycle of exhibitions initiated in 2003 with the purpose of placing under the spot light the graphic work of Pallady from the generous fund of the Serafina and Gheorghe Răut Collection. This collection comprises a few canvases signed by Pallady and 800 drawings and engravings of the great Romanian painter representative for his Parisian period.

This exhibition reunites 32 graphic works (crayon, watercolour, china ink, pastel and etching). The themes are as diverse as the techniques and the public can admire portrays (The Doctor Ioan Cantacuzino, Man reading, Self-portrait, Young lady by the sea shore), nudes (Clara Spida, Louise Cansot, Nude with apple - Zita Blondeau), landscapes (Place Dauphine, The port Le Havre, Near Maudon,) and sill lives.

The personality of Theodor Pallady (1871-1956) dominated more than 50 years the Romanian artistic scene. The entrance of the painter in the artistic world coincided with a period of important ideological and artistic changes. In 1889, Pallady goes to Paris and, starting with 1892, works in the Gustave Moreau's workshop, where Matisse, Manguin, Jean Puy and Camoin were also studying. He returns in 1904, but continues to exhibit in Paris until 1940.

Theodor Pallady Museum is hosted by the Melik House which it is considered to be the oldest civilian building in Bucharest. Inside the visitors can discover the Collection of Serafina and Gheorghe Răut that comprises works of European and Oriental art and furniture together with Pallady's creations.
