The National Art Museum of Romania and the Embassy of the Republic of Georgia in Romania invites you to the exhibition „300 Years Of Romania - Georgia Cultural Relations”, hosted in the Royal Dinning Room (Gate A3, NMAR Main Wing) on 9-24 October 2019. It is organised in cooperation with the National Parliamentary Library in Georgia and the State University in Tbilisi and it presents 17 books created in the first printing shop in Georgia, established in 1709 by King Vakhtang with the help of Antim Ivireanul – Metropolitan of Wallachia. Next to the books, visitors will be able to see two objects (coming from the collections of the National Art Museum of Romania) closely linked to Metropolitan Antim Ivireanu’s activity: an epitaph Ivireanu donated in 1714 to the Antim Monastery in Bucharest and a Greek-Romanian Gospel with covers bound in silver-gilt, printed in 1693 by Antim Ivireanu’s printing shop, donated by Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu to the Saint John Monastery in Bucharest.

All these objects are accompanied by photographs illustrating the history of diplomatic cooperation and cultural connections between the two countries.

We look forward to your visit!

The admission is free.
