Korniss Péter: Continuous Memory
Korniss Péter (b. 1937, Cluj, Romania), the outstanding Hungarian photographer, opened his Bucharest exhibition following a highly appreciated one-man show at the Hungarian National Gallery of Art in 2017.
Well-known for his documentary photographs which capture the daily life of East- European peasants, Korniss turned toward a more conceptual approach in recent years, while continuing to travel the world, from North and South America to South Yemen and Siberia.
The exhibition Continuous Memory comprises a selection of photographs from the 1960s and 1970s which focus on villages in Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia and reveal the deep human connection Korniss established with his subjects.
More of his photographs are on view until 10 April 2018 at the Balassi Institute – The Hungarian Institute in Bucharest complements it until.
